I.) WELCOME TO LTD . welcome honored guest / member, to L.T.D (live to die). we're so glad you could join us to at least check out our forum, and we do hope you consider joining us here on the forum. we are a role play forum and as all role play forums or forums in general we have rules. yes i know the dreaded and horrible rules. well we would like to control our chaos not let it run amok so that is why there are rules to be read and to be followed. please note before going any further however, that our site rules are subjected to change at any given time so if you do join us, please remember to check back frequently to make sure you are up to date. and with that being said lets get onto the rules and explaining them and their purposes.
II.) GETTING STARTED ON LTD . before you actually join / register on our forum you should read all of our rules, plot and other important information, but this is explaining the process in order of how you will officially become a member on our site and begin role playing here on LTD. first of all you will need to hit the register link that is at the top of the forum it will be in the menu box which is just beneath the pretty image at the top of the page. once you click that you will need to provide some information fill out a code to prove you're human and agree to the sites TOS, (terms of services). Without agreeing to those you cannot join the site so make sure your read them. then from that point on you will just need to activate your account with a code that will be sent to the e-mail address you provided when registering, activating your account is mandatory and it cannot be gotten around so do it, and then feel free to edit your profile and get onto the more interesting details.
III.) CREATING / CHOOSING A CHARACTER . once you have read our rules and all the other important stuff, created an account and activated it you need to either choose an original character (one of your own making) to play or go to our canon list and grab one, or another option is to check the classified to see if someone is in need of a character to go with a sub-plot they are wanting to do. all of this is pretty straight forward and once you do one of the above or decide what you're going to do or take on you'll need to change your display name to your character's first middle and last name and it should all be in capital letters. After this you will need to get to work on your application. Below are the guidelines for each type of character.
CANONS • time to complete: a week (seven days) • reserve-able: no. canons are a first come first serve • face claims: not changeable unless you plea a pretty good case.
ORIGINALS • time to complete: a week (seven days) • reserve-able: n.a • face claims: no - can only be claimed once application is approved. you may be subjected to need to change a face claim under the following circumstances: i.e. face is on canon list, face is taken. face does not suit character. if any of these circumstances come up you will be informed during application approval.
CLASSIFIEDS • time to complete: a week (seven days) • reserve-able: n.a • face claims: no - depends on who is asking they may let you change or not. if who they want is already taken by someone else you will have to change and notify them of this change yourself and discuss with them who the new claim will be. you may be subjected to need to change a face claim under the following circumstances: i.e. face is on canon list, face is taken. face does not suit character. if any of these circumstances come up you will be informed during application approval.
Once an application has been approved by a staff member of LTD, you are in charge of your claims. If you fail to claim on anything such as a face claim you will have to change your claim if someone else snatches them. any face is fair game if not on the claims list or not a canon. please make sure a face claim is age appropriate for your character. don't try to pass someone who is thirty off as twenty. a face claim can have no more than three to five (3 to 5) years give or take of the character's age. for example jane doe is 25 so your face claim could be no younger than twenty and to older than thirty.
IV.) IMAGES AND THEIR RESTRICTIONS . you can put images almost anywhere on the site you have your avatars and signatures and then possibly images in your post, as you may have noticed in the TOS of proboards, they restrict us to the childish means of PG-13. Nothing can go over that rating so if it has some sort of mature content in it, we risk being deleted. So please any an all images keep them PG-13 and if you are not sure ask before using them or don't use them at all. Here are the image guides as followed:
SIGNATURES: 560 width by 250 height AVATARS: 220 width by 260 height POSTS: cannot exceed 560 in width, images over this width will be removed due to the fact they stretch the forum
V.) POSTING & LAYOUT . if you haven't noticed yet the possibilities of layouts you can use in your posting has broadened, here at LTD, we have what is called enhanced coding. if you are not using an up to date browser, you may have issues with viewing our site - our site was made using mozilla firefox so it is best if viewed with that browser. as for posting all post must be a minimum of three hundred (300) words. if you fall a little short that is fine but the more the better, details are your friends so do go crazy with your details. also third person only please. you can write your application in first person as long as your rp sample is in third person, because that is how you will have to post in the role plays, also please note that when posting make sure you keep it PG-13, any sexual content keep to bare minimum and very watered down if not completely black out the dirty deed and pick up after the deed has been done, violence keep watered down don't go into horrifying gruesome detail, also please try to use your best spelling / grammar and punctuation. errors are ok we are not going to chop off your heads, but please there is a spell check so use it. we at least want you to spell correctly if nothing else. if you are using a template with enhanced coding please make sure the template or any images you use if not using enhanced coding, make sure they do not stretch the board - if they stretch the forum your template will be removed and your post may look rather boring.
VI.) RESPECT MEMBERS & STAFF . be sure you respect the members of this forum as well as the staff, do not argue or discriminate against them. we all have personal opinions and that's what they are. so no arguing who's the better artists in the music industry. no fighting over if black veil brides is better than nicki minja... because to some my the black veil brides are ten times more awesome than nicki minja, and vise versa. we are all entitled to our own opinion and views so no bashing someone because of their likes, dislikes, religion, race, gender, occupation, or sexual orientation. if we see it the offender is gone. we do not take discrimination or disrespect lightly around here. if you are being bashed please report it do not try to handle it on your own, the site staff will handle the person behind it according to the accusations. please remember what the staff says goes, and you will be punished if you go against them or argue the punishment being dealt - we have a three strike system strike one is warning, strike two is a ban for however long we see fit and strike three is deletion and permanent banning.
VII.) ACTIVITY OF ACCOUNTS / CHARACTERS . try to post at least two times a week for all of your characters, and try to log in daily to any and all accounts you may have. if you are going to be incommunicado for more than three days please let a staff member know as well as those you are in threads with. if you don't want to say specifics on why you will be gone just say its personal. we will understand. accounts that go inactive without a log-in and a post for two weeks will be deleted. characters of those accounts will be put up for adoption or killed off depending on circumstances.
VIII.) NO GOD-MODDING / POWER-PLAYING . power-playing and god-modding go hand in hand and are two big no no's in the role playing industry. power-playing is acting as if you control the other person's character. which you don't do nor are you allowed to.
for example: "john held jane's hand and pulled her away while she laughed and danced around like a clown." see what's wrong? the one controlling john could not also control jane at the same time. it is not right nor allowed, for all we know jane could have pulled out a gun and shot his face off. but we don't, since john's puppeteer decided that it was okay to control jane. any reports of power-playing will be investigated, and you will be punished accordingly. however if you and the person you rp with are air tight and like two peas in a pod and know each others style and are alright with a little power-playing that's fine but if you're strangers with the person you are rping with then its best to consult and have direct permission.
god-modding is a tad bit different. let's say that jane indeed did pull out a shotgun. for example: "jane pulled a gun out of it's holster, and john tried to punch her, but his hand broke the instant it touched her." who sees the problem? yes, you, sitting in front of your computer with your hand on your cheek. bingo! yahtzee! that is correct. she acted as if she was invincible, and poor john never had a chance. you are not god. i am god. you are a puny mortal.
the point is you are not allowed to act like you are an all powerful immortal god - it is not fair, and you are certainly not allowed to control other peoples characters. puppeteer your own character. the code word is "OPERATION STEAM-PUNK SOCK MONKEY."
IX.) SPAMMING AND PMS . there is always a big problem with spamming and pms.... no not pre-menstral syndrome. personal messaging. no spamming the in-boxes of members and definitely no advertising. we have a board for that. as for spontaneous posting of annoying mass messaging also known as s.p.a.m that is not allowed no spamming our board / forums. people who spam will be deleted and blocked and those who do not follow the pm rules will have pm rights revoked.
X.) ADVERTISING / AFFILIATING . advertising and affiliating. we currently only do advertisements and do not do affiliation but that may change in the future if we become active and popular. we have a board though for advertising please make sure advertisements are PG-13 content wise and are posted in the appropriate board. double advertising is not allowed and will result in advertisements being deleted. if your advertisement violates proboards TOS it will be deleted.
XI.) THE STAFF TEAM . please do not join and begin bugging the staff about becoming part of the staff if you are destined to be staff you will have to sit pretty and earn it. if you bug the hell out of us we will not even consider you as staff. but you can always ask the head administrator if there is anything you can do to help the site as a member. just be patient and you may be rewarded down the road.
